Carolyn Walker, the daughter of the late James Robinson Garrett, and the late Doris Rose Coward Garrett, was born on November 15, 1941 in New York City, NY.
On February 1, 2022 she departed this life and was called to her heavenly home. She attended public school 126, Junior high School and Central Commercial High School where she graduated with high honors. Later on she attended Queens College and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree.
Carolyn worked for the city of New York for over 30 years, elevating herself to Deputy Director before retiring.
Carolyn was a faithful member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church, New York, New York. She served on different organizations such as singing on the choir, Usher Board, Missionary Society and the Trustee Board.
Later she moved to Willingboro, New Jersey where she continued to work faithfully at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Moorestown, New Jersey. Carolyn belonged to the Lay Organization, Mary C. Muse Missionary Society and was president for several years. She was also a member of the Helping Hand Organization and served as a Stewardess on the Stewardess Board.
In the mid 1960’s she joined the order of the Eastern Stars, the NAACP, Flushing Branch of Queens, New York and the Red Hatters of New Jersey.
Carolyn is survived by her loving brother Bernard Garrett, her sister Denise Garrett, her brother-in-law Derrick Simpson, her niece Batista Garrett and her grandnephew Ajani Rhodes-Garrett, along with a host of relatives and fr
