Obituary of Randolph J Scott

HIS STORY RANDOLPH JOSEPH SCOTT was born on July 28, 1938, to Irene Anderson Scott and Aaron Scott in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Randy was the oldest of four siblings. His sister Darlene and two brothers, Ronald, and Charles, all preceded him in death. RANDY as he was affectionately called attended the Philadelphia Public School System. Upon graduation in 1956, he majored in business at Temple University. Randy was formerly married to Eleanor Watford and from this union, three beautiful children were born, Arnita, Gregory, and Eric (Keith). On July 19, 1974, he married Edna Pickett, his soulmate from Wilmington, North Carolina. July would have marked their 48th wedding anniversary. Kevin, who preceded him in death, was born from this loving union. RANDY was employed by the United States Postal Service at 30th and Market Streets as a Postal Clerk. Randy interacted with numerous diverse customers. He was committed to complete customer satisfaction and retention. It was during that time that he developed the desire to become an entrepreneur. The majority of his postal customers were business owners and Randy tapped into those resources and contacts to begin his own business. Randy was well known, loved, and greatly respected amongst the wholesale communities and businesses. RANDY was a wonderful husband and father and always wanted to give his family his best. Therefore, it was not long before Randy moved his family to a new loving home in Willingboro, New Jersey, where he continued to live out his years. After retiring from the USPS, Randy worked part-time with First Student Bus Transportation Service. RANDY began attending Faith Deliverance Worship Center formerly known as Deliverance Evangelistic Church in the early 1980s under the pastorate of Eric F. Ricks. His wife Edna and son Kevin were already members. After accepting the Lord as his personal Savior, Randy began to incorporate his love of being an entrepreneur with his spiritual gifts of helping and giving to others. Randy loved the Lord and in 2005, after much prayer and guidance from the Lord, Randy accepted the call and was ordained as a Deacon. He enjoyed assisting the Pastor with the needs of the church. He had a special place in his heart concerning outreach programs and took joy in going to nursing homes and interacting with the patients. He helped the poor and needy through fundraising events and shared his knowledge about finances to help those who needed to increase their income and knowledge about money. He was committed to inspiring and empowering others. Randy’s eyes would light up when he shared anything about successful financial affairs. RANDY’S skills in math, training and investing opened the door for him to serve on various committees at Faith Deliverance Worship Center, including the Compensation and Scholarship Committees. Randy was an excellent communicator, with strong people skills and he had the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. He enjoyed participating in the Senior Care Ministry, Men’s Fellowship, Sunday School and Bible Studies and he continued his involvement with Christian Education even when his health began to fail. RANDY’S favorite pastimes included taking cruises throughout the Caribbean with his wife Edna. Some of their family’s favorite spots were St. John in the Virgin Islands and vacationing in Wildwood, NJ. Randy was known for saying “Your Golden Years are in your 40s and 50s and “Getting Old is not for punks”. His other hobbies and interests included watching football and boxing. But he was passionate about being a vendor at the flea markets every Saturday of the month. Moreover, Randy took immense pleasure with providing hair stylists and the beauty salons with beauty care products and personal care items. The stylists and their customers looked forward to seeing Randy and all of his customers would call him “Mr. Randy.” It did not matter if they were younger or older than him, people loved Randy so much that they gave him the highest level of respect. RANDY was a family man. For many years, he served as President of the Family Reunions for the Philadelphia Chapter. He immensely enjoyed the relationship that he had with his beloved wife and four children, whom he loved and adored. Randy will forever be loved and missed. RANDY will be remembered, cherished and deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife Edna Scott; one daughter: Arnita Scott Brown (Sylvester); two sons: Keith and Gregory Scott; eight grandchildren: Kareem, Sareeta, Eric Jr., Keyon, Teyonnia, Sean, Stephanie and Shawna; his great grandchildren; mother-in-law: Fannie Pickett; three sisters-in-law: Vanessa Gorrell, Catherine Pickett-Ford (Chris); and Janet Bard (Harry), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his church family.
