Obituary of Mary Anne Smith
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Ann Smith was born April 19, 1941, to the late Willie Reynolds and Sudie Mae Carter. Ann, as she was affectionately called, attended Wilson County Schools. One of Ann’s biggest achievements was late in life, going back to school and receiving her high school diploma.
Ann went on to marry Clayton E. Smith, who spent many blissful years traveling the country and raising their family. She later relocated back to Wilson, North Carolina after the passing of her beloved husband. She was a faithful member of Faith Temple United Church, where she received her Certificate of Baptism in 1998.
Ann loved children and helped raise many. She was “Grandmom” to half of Wilson County as she was known for her big, open heart, and extending her home to anyone in need.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Angalea Smith, Carolyn Stewart, and Renee Reynolds, her sons, Jeffrey Smith, Clayton Smith Jr. (Harriet), Charles Smith, and Michael Smith, fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ann will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing her company, and the legacy of her generosity, resilience, and support will live in the hears of those who love her.
