OBITUARY
Adepeju Abiodun Bamgbose (nee Ibiwoye-Oba) will be forever remembered as a sweet, most profoundly generous, and caring soul. She was full of life which has been cut short, our hearts heavy, our collective faiths tested to the fullest but in the end, we believe that Adepeju now dwells in the house of the Lord.
As the family begins to try to make sense of this unbearable loss, the culmination of circumstances beyond our comprehension, one common denominator has become increasingly clear as we receive the uncountable condolences and prayers from friends and acquaintances of Adepeju, which are that their endearing last memories of Adepeju were that she was a vibrant individual with an overwhelming generosity of spirit, an infectious positive outlook on life and a delight to always be around. Adepeju was forever smiling, her laughter constantly punctuating the air, an uncanny kindness, her caring attitude depicting a person of immense capacity to love, to sacrifice what little she had to protect those she dearly treasured. The good ones amongst us tend to depart this earth before their time. We lift our hands and bow to the Creator not to question His will or his divine plan but left in the knowledge that He knows best in times like this.
Adepeju was born in 1972 in Lagos, Nigeria. The daughter of regal high birth with a long line of ancestry from the royal family in Oro, Kwara State, Nigeria. She attended primary school in Lagos and then went to a Iludun Grammar School where Adepeju completed her secondary school education. She returned to Lagos to study at the University of Lagos where she completed a Computer Science diploma. Adepeju wasted no time in emigrating to South Africa where she settled there for a few years and thereafter left those shores to move to America.
Adepeju carved out a flourishing career in the healthcare sector where she worked and studied to gain further certifications to enhance her career. Adepeju worked as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) at Kelsch Associates, New Jersey for several years and became an Assistant Manager at The Arc of Gloucester, a healthcare facility company in New Jersey.
Adepeju’s heart was so wide, was the purest, the most refined angel to walk the earth. We are blessed to have known her. Adepeju loved deeply and unconditionally. She was a private person, often misunderstood by a few as she protected her privacy very fiercely. Adepeju would however go to the ends of the world to satisfy her loved ones. She would rather help people, known to her or not and forgo attaining material things for herself if it meant that others would in some way benefit from her acts of generosity. She was the definition of an illuminating light in a world full of gloom, strife, and despair.
In one of her last few quotes to her daughter, Adepeju was said to have written “True love in human form, I have no words…your love makes me speechless.” Adepeju loved and was loved. We pray that you will join hands with us to make a commitment to keep the irreplaceable fond memories of Adepeju in our hearts for all time. Adepeju survived with a daughter, Ibukunoluwa, and grandchildren. May Adepeju’s soul rest in perfect peace. May the Lord Almighty forgive Adepeju of her misdeeds whilst alive and accept her in the afterlife. Amen, IJMN.
