Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lillian Gertrude Johnson was born at West Jersey Hospital on August 31, 1934 to the late Edison Ransome and Talithia Garvin. She departed this life on July 17, 2022.
She received her education in the Baltimore, Maryland and Paulsboro, New Jersey school systems.
Lillian accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized by the late Reverend Sylvanus S. Brown at Second Baptist Church in Paulsboro. In later years she was on the choir and was also active as a flower matron until she moved to Bridgeton. She then joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Salem, New Jersey, where she sang on the choir and was a pastors aide. She moved to Erial, New Jersey in 1996 where she joined Bible Baptist Church and sang on the choir and was a pastors aide.
In 1952 she was united in holy matrimony to Hitler F. Johnson. From this union six children were born. Ferris, Dana, Millard, Richard, Crystal and Yvette. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and best friend.
Lillian loved children her own and many others. Her hobbies were jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, trivia and board games. She loved to travel and go. You had to let her know in advance if you wanted to include her in your plans. The only person who didn’t have to give advance notice was Jesus Christ (smile).
She was employed by Sears for 22 years. After retiring she worked at H&R Block, Atlantic Electric and Erial Christian School.
Lillian leaves to mourn 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and anyone who ever came in contact with her. She never met a stranger. Her motto was “If I can help somebody.”
