Obituary of Dorothy M Crenshaw

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy May Crenshaw was born to the late Raymond Bacchues and Lillian Jones on December 14, 1945 in Camden, New Jersey. Being cared for and surrounded by her loved ones throughout her long battle with illness, Dorothy was called home to glory after the Lord declared she had fought a good fight, and succumbed to her illness on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Having received her early education in the Camden City School System, Dorothy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After high school, Dorothy pursued a career in Medical Coding and Billing and Computer Programming, graduating from the Harris Business School. Dorothy had a love for children, which led her on her career path as a teacher at Respond Inc. Daycare for over 40 years. After retiring from Respond Inc., Dorothy continued to pursue her passion for educating children by volunteering within the Bethany Baptist Church Children’s Ministry. Raised in a Christian family, Dorothy accepted Christ, and devoted her time to worshiping the Lord within various church families. Using her voice, which she believed was a gift from God as way to praise and serve the Lord, Dorothy enjoyed her time while singing on the choir as a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed various crafts, such as painting and crocheting, including crocheting hats for newborns at local hospitals throughout her community. Dorothy also loved to spend time writing, completing short stories such as “Strange Ears”, and ultimately achieving her goal of publishing her first children’s novel entitled, “A Christmas Surprise”. A woman of quiet nature and simple pleasures, Dorothy enjoyed spending time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being out and about, traveling to various cities such as New York and Philadelphia with family and friends, enjoying a day of shopping, and a good meal. Dorothy loved joining new clubs within the community to meet new people and make new memories. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many, and she will be forever missed by all those who loved her. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter Leila Tarpley, son, Tito Thomas, grandchildren, Patrice Tarpley, Gabriella Wisher, Tre’ Tarpley, great-grandchildren, Azariah and Amari. Preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Jones and Raymond Bacchues, husband, James Crenshaw, daughter, Tonjette Crenshaw, and brothers, Joseph Jones and Thomas Jones. Dorothy also leaves to cherish sister, Wanda Cranshaw, nephews, Marvin Lewis (Jalisha), Melvin Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Craig White (Chantay), Robert Martinez (Sylvia), and George Cranshaw, nieces, Vanessa McCargo (William), Patricia Dickerson (Stephen), Loveann Cranshaw, and Angela White-Ward, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
