Obituary of Ruth E. Hilliard
Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth Elvira Moore was the third child born to the late Ervin Moore and Esther Robinson on January 28, 1951, in Dixie, Georgia. Ruth along with her siblings grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida before relocating to New Jersey in 1969.
Ruth attended and graduated from J.F. K. High School in Riviera Beach Florida, where she enjoyed being a majorette. In 1970 she met George Adkins and the two of them shared their love and birth of a beautiful baby girl Esther Yolanda Moore in July of 1972.
Her love of music drew her to Columbia Records where she worked until moving back to Florida. In 1977 Ruth moved back to New Jersey and attended Camden County College in Blackwood, NJ. It was there she met the love of her life, the late Chrispin Hilliard. Ruth and Chrispin joined Holy Matrimony in 1979. To their union, they gave birth to their two wonderful daughters Salimatu Chrispina Hilliard in June of 1981, and Ruth Krawdia Shabree Hilliard in July 1987.
Ruth enjoyed the music so much that she would sing, and dance daily. Her music choices were so vast because she just loved the words and melodies of any and every genre of music. Ruth had a sweet tooth and enjoyed candy, her favorite being Milkyway bars, her Pepsi Cola, and milkshakes.
Ruth had such a big heart and would help whoever she could with whatever she could. She on many occasions even opened up her home to many family friends, and even friends of her children.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband Chrispin, and her siblings, James Moore, Patricia Brockington, and Clifford Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters; Esther, Salimatu, and Ruth, five grandchildren; Cha-Tai’ja, Ayanna, Ni’Asia, Tur’rona, and Tamir, and one great-grandchild; Jamal Jr., and four nephews; Aaron, Jamal, Justin, and Brandon, one niece; Shawnda, and a host of family and friends.
