Obituary of Ernest Lee Jones

Ernest Lee Jones was born on September 14, 1962 and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 13, 2022. He was born to, the late, Edwin Lloyd Jones Sr. and, the late, Helen Gertrude Jones. Ernest received his formal education through the Camden City School District in Camden, New Jersey. While attending Woodrow Wilson High School in East Camden, New Jersey, Ernest developed a close relationship with teachers, staff, and students who all grew to know him and appreciate his winning personality as well as his talents as a shooting guard for his high school varsity basketball team. Ernest also played varsity football for a few years. His talents as an athlete earned Ernest a full paid scholarship to Hiwassee Christian College in Madisonville, Tennessee. Later, he worked for the John B. Canuso Construction Company in Voorhees, N.J., the Cooper River Convalescent Home in Pennsauken, N.J., and Alper’s Roofing Company in Camden, N.J. While courting Charisse L. Johnson, Ernest was employed by The Mustard Seed Wholesale Croissants Company. During their courtship, Ernest asked the love of his life and true soul mate, Clarisse, for her hand in marriage. He was later employed by A.L.P. Lighting Components in Pennsauken, N.J. and the T.H.E.M. Corporation in Marlton, N.J. where Ernest was a packing machine operator/engineer and a forklift operator. Most recently, Ernest was employed by The Palace Care Center in Maple Shade, N.J. where he was a floor technician. He also worked in the housekeeping department. Ernest loved sports; regularly, he cheered on The Philadelphia 76ers and The Philadelphia Eagles. He also took great joy in viewing an array of popular televangelists. Ernest attended St. John Baptist Church in Camden, N.J. and he truly enjoyed the many uplifting services that he attended there. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Charisse L. Johnson-Jones, his mother and father, Edwin and Helen Jones Sr., his two brothers, Michael and George Jones, and his two brothers-in-law, Reverend Dee C. White and Leroy English. He leaves to cherish his memory, many, loving bonus children and grandchildren, his two brothers, Edwin Jones Jr. of Merchantville, NJ and Jewel Jones Sr. and wife, Karen Owens-Jones of Pittsgrove, NJ, his four sisters, Robin Cuff of Camden, NJ, Frankie White of Philadephia, PA, Candy Cuff of Camden, NJ, and Toni Jones-English of Woodbury NJ, his Godson and nephew, Jewel Jones Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
