Obituary of Vanessa Jones

Vanessa Jones was born in Philadelphia to Cesareo Marquez SR and Carmen Cardona on 4/13/1975. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School where she was very involved. She played the trumpet for Woodrow Wilson High School Marching Band. She also played Bass for the Woodrow Wilson High School Jazz Ensemble. She was elected Woodrow Wilson’s High School Student representative to the Camden Board of Education. She helped organize a Student walkout to save the job of then Woodrow Wilson High Principal Mr. Factor. She graduated in June 1994. She worked as Assistant Secretary for the Mayor’s Office for the City of Camden, NJ. She also worked as Parent Coordinator for Leap Academy Charter School in Camden.
She enjoyed listening to music. She also enjoyed attending and supporting her sons football games, wrestling games and others.
Vanessa Jones is survived by her sons, Peter Rivera Jr. , Juan Rivera Jr., and Jeremiah Jones of Glassboro, NJ. Mother, Carmen Cardona; Estranged husband Leif Jones, Sisters, Maria Marquez, Bernice Layton, Judith Marquez; Brothers, Cesar Marquez, Hector Delgado; Nieces, Vanessa I. Vazquez, Isabella Layton; Nephews, Gabriel Layton, Ivan Gabriel Arce; Aunt, Felicita Delgado. She is preceded in death by her father, Cesar Marquez Sr.
Vanessa will be remembered for her unconditional love, hardworking courage, raising her three amazing sons. We will never forget how she helped everyone around her without any exceptions.
