Obituary of Jerome Dessiso

Jerome Dessiso, at the age of 80, passed away peacefully in God's loving and eternal care at home on February 2, 2023, in Willingboro. Jerome Dessiso was born on August 21,1942 in Holly Hill South Carolina to James and Oneal Dessiso. The second of five children, he was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. At the age of eight months, he was adopted by his paternal grandparents, Rachel and Naldo Toomer, and raised to adulthood in Boyer, South Carolina. Jerome attended Robert's Elementary and Robert's High School in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He played high school football for two years and graduated valedictorian of his class in 1960. Jerome enlisted in the US Army after high school and served in North Carolina, Georgia and South Korea, he was honorably discharged in 1964. He settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where in 1965 he met his future bride, Sylvia Ann Whalen. A union that lasted over 55 years. From this union one daughter was born. The family moved to Willingboro, New Jersey in 1975. They have resided in Willingboro New Jersey for over 45 years. Jerome graduated from the Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute in 1969. He was employed by Honeywell Industries for 5 years and retired from NBC 10 after 25 years as a Broadcast Technician. Jerome's hobbies and interests included league bowling, motorcycle travel, new car enthusiast, avid reader and domestic and international tourist. Jerome is survived by his wife and two daughters, Barbara Gilbert (66) of Miami Florida and Sylome Renee Dessiso-Fox (56) of New Port Richey Florida. Siblings Robert Dessiso of Philadelphia and Delores Hobbs of Baltimore Maryland, and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
