Obituary of Hilda Ahart

Hilda Louise (Smith) Ahart was born on October 7, 1938 in Camden, NJ to the late Howard and Elizabeth D Smith. Hilda departed this life on February 18, 2023. After many years, Hilda married her beloved husband Barret Ahart on November 27, 1986. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ethel Townes (Robert), Roseann Jenkins (Carroll) and four brothers: Robert Jackson (Barbara), Leslie Smith, Henry Smith, Curtis Smith and Grandson: Gary C. Nickens. Hilda was educated in the Camden City Public School System. Hilda enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. Hilda was always very loving, caring, and supportive of her family and friends. Before Hilda departed this life, Hilda was a dedicated employee at the Camden County Board of Social Service-Welfare Office as an office clerk. Hilda later retired from the office in December of 2003. Hilda treasured her friends and adored her family. Hilda seized every opportunity to help when needed. During her life, Hilda demonstrated her willing spirit and her love of Christ. This led her to be baptized and become a member of St. John Baptist Church in in Camden, NJ under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Silas M. Townsend. At St. John's Baptist Church, Hilda served on the Nurses Auxiliary and Scholarship Committee. Hilda leaves to cherish her memory one son Gary C. Smith (Lynelle), one daughter Dawn M. Smith (Victor Ossorio ); beloved grandchildren Chanel M. Smith, Chantel M. Smith, Visaiah E. Ossorio; granddaughter-in-law Christian-Marie Nickens; great grandson Ayden-Ray Nickens; brothers Bernard Dunmore, Ronald Smith a good friend Debbie Muns and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
