Obituary
Obituary of Henry J Mears
Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry Jerome Mears was called home peacefully in his sleep, on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was 43 years old. Henry was born July 12, 1979, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to James and Helen Shorter.
Growing up, Henry enjoyed riding bikes, going to the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved taking vacations and road trips with his family. Henry developed a passion for cooking, and making “just because” platters for his family and close friends (Henry would deliver your food even if it was 3am). No matter the season or weather, you could find Henry “sparking up the grill”. He loved dogs, fishing, and good music (especially oldies). Henry was known for always putting a smile on your face, whether he knew you or not. He had a special nickname for everyone he loved.
Henry attended and graduated from Willingboro Public Schools. He worked as a Property Inspector for Homeland Security, as well as an Independent Contractor until he became ill in 2018. He enjoyed performing inspections, meeting new people, and ensuring they had a safe place to live. Henry enjoyed reading his Bible and attending church. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Camden, New Jersey.
Henry met his Wife Shaquea (Kia), in 2000, and they soon developed an unbreakable bond. As their relation progressed, they decided to raise their adopted son Jayden, together. In May of 2018, they solidified their union in matrimony. Later in 2018, Henry became very ill, and he fought until the day he was called home.
Henry was predeceased by his Grandfather Henry Mears Jr., Grandmother Freddie Mae Mears, and Aunts Connie Johnson and Patricia (Pat) Brooks.
Nothing can ever take away a love the heart holds dear. Henry is survived by his Wife Shaquea (Kia) Mears, Son Jayden Lindsey, Mother Helen Shorter, Father and Mother-in Law Wayne and Jean Dobson, Nieces Anaijah (Baby Cakes), Londyn (PiePie), Nephews Jakhi (Rabi), Jordan (Jigga Man), and a host of aunts, uncles (special Uncle Bruce Brooks), and cousins (special Cousins Latoya Brooks, Linda (Andy) Barker, Tumeca (Shawn) Herrington, Chris Kinslow, and Special Friends Falonda Davis, and Curtis (Nykita) Myricks.
Henry touched many lives. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he was loved beyond words.
