Roselee Singleton was born March 16, 1930, in Stateburg of Sumter County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Brown and Annie McCoy. On April 5, 2023, God called Miss. Rose (as she was known by all) home and she answered his call graciously.
Miss. Rose was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. She moved to Brooklyn, New York at an early age after the death of her husband William (Boobey) Singleton Sr., she was blessed with four sons. She was employed for many years at the NYC Board of Education until her retirement. Miss. Rose loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She had a passion for cooking and loved cooking and feeding people in the neighborhood. Her other hobbies included doing crossword puzzles, she would sit in her bedroom window with her crossword puzzle books and watch the children outside playing below. Mrs. Rose enjoyed giving bus rides to Atlantic City to the casinos for fun. Mrs. Rose was a faithful member and Grand Matron of the Eastern Stars Organization while residing in N.Y.
Miss. Rose had a nickname for many of her grandchildren such as Squirrel Head, Naked Chickens, Toney Boney, Stacy Wacy, Buttons, Cup Cake, Freshi and Little Ike, etc. Mrs. Rose had two dogs that she loved dearly, whose names were King and Bullet.
Upon her becoming ill she was moved to Vineland, N.J. with her son, William (Billy)Singleton Jr. where she resided until she was summoned by God.
Miss. Rose was preceded in death by her husband William Singleton Sr., son Willie James Johnson, three sisters Grace, Pearl, and Gertrude, four grandsons – Darius Brown, Allen Grayson, Alvia and Dwayne Singleton.

Rose leaves to cherish her memories: her sister Lillie Bell Hardy of Brooklyn, N.Y. nephew Sam Hardy of Brooklyn N.Y. children Richard (Ruth) Brown of Sumter, S.C., William (Liza) Singleton Jr. of Vineland, N.J., Alvia R.(Ida) Singleton of Buffalo, N.Y.; Grandchildren, Richard Brown Jr., Stacy Dixon, Desiree Brown, Tracy Harrell, Monique Morris, Coby J. Singleton, Orion J. Singleton, Wilma, Bernard and Wanda Johnson of Sumpter, SC, Kayshawn, Kenny, Kyle, Kenyetta Singleton of Brooklyn N.Y. and Elmira Yates of Brooklyn, N.Y.; . Great-grandchildren Danrell , Jamell and Shameek Baker of Brooklyn, NY. Essence Butcher, Joshua and Kimora Baker, Diane, Shameek Singleton and Dejinera Yates all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Great grandchildren Tevin and Todd Waters of Vineland, NJ, and Jackson Harrell of Sicklerville NJ, Peyton and Penelope Morris of Williamstown, NJ and Great-great-grandchildren Heavenly Baker of Brooklyn, NY, Tiana and Daniel Dolphon of Hartsville, SC. and Dorian Bonds of Aiken, SC.
Miss Rose also leaves to mourn her daughter-in-law Wilhelmenia Johnson of Sumpter, S.C.; sister Lillie Bell Hardy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sisters-in-law Wilhelmenia Anderson, Earline Shannon, Louise Singleton of Sumpter, S.C., and Mary Fraiser of Washington, D.C.; and a host of Grand and Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends of South Carolina.
