Obituary
Obituary of Jorge L Martinez
Please share a memory of Jorge to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On August 8, 1955 Jorge L Martinez (Kike) was born in Lares, Puerto Rico. He is the son of Juana Nieves & Candido Martinez, Brother to Laura, Antonio, Lucy, Blanca, Javier Candida; Husband to Nilsa Lopez ; father to William Perez (wife Olga), Luz Aquino (Ray), Alicia Aquino (Felix), Hector Jimenez (Rose). Grand father to 22, great Grandfather to 33 & Great Grandfather to 8.
He attended school in Lares until he went to work at a very young age. Pops worked in agriculture on the Island of P.R picking coffee beans, landscaping and cutting sugar cane in the fields. He brought his family to Camden NJ in the early 80s, where he started working at Venus Window Company until he retired. He always provided a good life for his family. You couldn't let him tighten a bolt on your car because it was guaranteed to snap in two, with his strength. He loved to help everyone. His heart was big & he knew no other way to be, but to help his fellow man. Pops was a simple man. He really enjoyed being with family & friends. As long as he was beside his Queen and his family, had shelter and food to eat he was content. He enjoyed going to the lake with his family, playing dominoes, playing pool and watching Novelas with his love every night. He loved to eat his pasteles and Alcapurrias, especially the ones made by the hands of his loved ones. He would get like a kid on Christmas day.
So if you knew him by Jorge, Kike or as Pops, then you knew there was always at one door to knock on if you were in need of help. You knew one person that would go that extra mile to make life a little easier for you. He loved to joke around until mom would jump up and start slapping his Hulk Hogan arms while he laughed out loud and say (Mommy Crazy).
Memories are all we are left with, so make them count. There's not enough paper for us to write all the great memories we shared with Pops. Just know that with his smile, jokes, and his energy he won everyone over and before you knew it, he had you hooked on him.
