Obituary of Regina M Ellis

Please share a memory of Regina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Regina Marita Ellis made her entrance into this world in Plainfield, New Jersey on July 4, 1953. She was born to the late John F. Lane and Aleathea I. (Rigby) Lane. She was raised in Passaic, New Jersey with eight other siblings when her mother remarried Frank Allen, Sr. She graduated from Passaic Senior High School in 1971. Thereafter, she married her former husband, Charlie Ellis, Sr. and moved south to Vineland, New Jersey. She began her career at Vineland Developmental Center and retired after 37 faithful years of service. She was a longtime resident of Glassboro where she raised her two children whom she loved with every beat of her heart. She was well-known around the community whether it was sitting outside conversing with her neighbors; setting up a folding chair to get the best view of the Memorial Day parade; or mentioning her grandson whenever greeting an officer in blue. She especially was a proud grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them play sports and supporting activities in which they were involved. She loved holidays and cherished the time celebrating with family. She expressed herself through her exceptional gifts of love and giving while putting her own needs aside. Her hobbies included playing bingo, cruising, reading, and watching television in the company of her beloved cat, Simba. She looked forward to meeting up with her bingo friends at several of her favorite spots and traveling with them to Connecticut. Regina accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age, loved to worship God, and was a faithful servant. She loved her church family at Emanuel Baptist Church where she served in the Usher Ministry, Culinary Ministry, and as a zone worker for the Sheepfold Ministry. She also did not mind working behind the scenes to support any ministry without the need for recognition. Additionally, she looked forward to attending the community bible study group. Joining the zoom meetings by cell phone became bonus entertainment. On Good Friday, April 7, our heavenly Father sent the angels to escort Regina peacefully away to be with Him. She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Charlie, Jr. (Cassandra) and Charrise (Keith); three grandsons, Corey, Jordan, and Acosta, III.; four granddaughters, Jasmine, Jasmin (Jaleel), Cameron, and Anyah; her siblings, John, Francyne (Grady), Lorraine (Tommy), Barbara, Florence, and Theresa; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Regina was predeceased by her parents, John, Aleathea, and Frank, Sr.; her siblings, Ronnie and Frank, Jr.; and her cherished friend Thelma. When we think of Regina M. Ellis, there are two words that come to mind, “Sweet Angel.” She will forever be with us to strengthen, comfort, protect, and watch over us.
