Obituary of Gail Garland

Gail S. Garland, 68 of the Hammond Heights section of Wenonah, NJ passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2023. She was born October 26, 1954, to Oscar Garland Jr. and Shellie Mae Garland, Philadelphia, PA. Gail was a Christian and showed her love for God by the way she treated and cared about her family. She also attended Triumph Church in Glassboro, NJ for many years.
She graduated from Deptford Township High School, Deptford, NJ in June 1972. Gail attended Gloucester County College and also completed a Nursing School program. She enjoyed caring for patients during her employment with the Pine Crest Nursing Home, Deptford, NJ. Gail also worked at Columbia Records Pressing Plant, in Pitman, NJ.
Gail had an early passion for singing beginning with her years as a member of the “Joylettes” neighborhood singing group of the Bible Training Unit started by Mrs. Henrietta Cosby also of Hammond Heights.
Her parent's and family were very supportive of her entertainment pursuits. She attended the John Robert Powers Modeling and Acting School, Philadelphia, PA and also took private professional voice lessons to hone her performance skills. Gail enjoyed performing with the “Soul” singing group, the “Sweethearts”, and military talent shows for the troops.
Gail was a very compassionate person as well as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt , cousin and friend.
Preceded in her death are her parents, Oscar Garland Jr. , Shellie Mae Garland and sister, Nancy Garland.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers: Kenneth Garland, Anthony (Trent) Garland (Ellie) , Oscar Garland III (Felita); aunts: Lucille Garland (Daymond) and Gwen Stroud (Bobbie). Gail also leaves behind a host of, nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins, and friends. She will be forever cherished and loved by all who knew her.
