1 CORINTHIANS 15:57
DOROTHY L. HOLLAND, daughter of Wesley and Ethel Sledge was born December 29, 1934, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was married in Holy Matrimony to Payton Holland and to this union was born a son, Kevin J. Holland.
DOTTIE, as she was affectionally called, worked at Cooper Hospital for many years and retired from PNC Bank as Assistant Manager. SHE was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served for over 65 years. Dorothy is the oldest member in service to the church. She was baptized by the late Rev. Emmanuel Taylor and served under the leadership of all four pastors.
She loved her church and was affiliated with many ministries to mention a few, Board of Trustee, Willing Workers, Gospel Chorus, Voices of Calvary, Inspirational Choir, Bible Class and Adult Sunday School. She served faithfully until illness prevented her from attending and was always cancer and about the welfare of her church.
Dottie was a loving, caring, sister, and she will be deeply missed. She loved to cook, and her greatest joy was to keep her sister happy. Truly she will be missed but we know she is free at last.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Ethel Sledge, her husband, Payton Holland, her son, Kevin J. Holland.
Leaving precious memories to, Loving sister, Willa Mae, a precious granddaughter, Shairie, a devoted daughter in-love, Deniece Holland, adopted daughter, Rev. Charlene Womack.
five adopted sisters, Judy Dodd, Diane Money, Brenda Harper (Baby Sis.) Janice King, Doris Walden, two dear friends, Otis and Margaret Basnight, a dedicated and always on duty special Care Giver Phyllis Womack. Her church family and many friends. Sorrowfully submitted, The Family
