Obituary of Barbara Fisher
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Fisher, lovingly known by her friends and family as “Parker” and “Bobbie” by her grands was born on September 5, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA and departed this life peacefully on July 10, 2023, surrounded by family.
Barbara was raised in Lawnside, NJ by her parents, the late Louis and Mary E. Parker. She attended and graduated from the Lawnside Public School and Camden County Vo-cational School. Raised in a Christian home, Barbara accepted the Lord as her personal Savior during this journey of life. She enjoyed the ministry of Joel Olsteen and could be found faithfully watching his Sunday broadcasts.
On June 18, 1953, Barbara married the love of her life, Horace Joseph “Joe” Fisher and to this union four children were born. She often shared the story while dating, she found herself paying his way to the movie theatre or amusement parks such Coney Is-land. Joe’s response was “If you stick with me, I’ll show you Broadway!” Barbara stuck with her “Joe Fisher” and not only did he show her Broadway but the Holy Lands in Jerusalem, South Africa, Caribbean Islands, and many other places throughout the Country.
Barbara loved and adored her family. As her mother’s health began to fail, she moved her into her home and relentlessly took care of her until the end, refusing to allow any-one else to assist. Barbara loved her home. Her children were her life. After the death of her husband, she was presented with many opportunities to do many things, but her choice was always to be with her children, whether it be babysitting for the grands, weekly trips to Wal-Mart (sometimes daily), Boscovs, Shopping Outlets, Casinos or simply a ride in the car. It did not matter as long as she was with her children! This was not a one-sided relationship. Her grands, great-grands and great-great grandchildren were always at her house. They knew they would be greeted with Pepsi, chicken and "Oldies."
Barbara loved music. Her genre was old Hymns and Oldies ranging from 1950’s – 1980’s. Every Friday night a group of her girlfriends known as the “Crew” would gath-er together socializing and enjoying music.
Parker’s house was the place to be as she had records, albums, and CDs from various artists. You name it, she had it. Not only was she familiar with the music but could sing the lyrics to each one even up until her death! It was no secret Parker, knew how to “jam!”
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Fisher; bonus mother Flora Bry-ant; granddaughter Jenelle Fisher and grandson Joseph Eugene Fisher; three bonus sis-ters Anna, Edna, and Willamae Anderson.
