Obituary of James E Glasgow
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James “Julio” “Gunsmoke” Emmanuel Glasgow, 84, transitioned from his earthly life Wednesday, October 18, 2023, peacefully at his New Jersey residence surrounded by loved ones.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 16 years, Henrietta (Wallace) Glasgow; his daughter, Alexis T. Elizabeth Glasgow, his sons Patrick C. Tyson and Dana R. Glasgow; his sister Violet R. Glasgow; his brothers Anthony Frank (deceased), Charles Frank, John J. Glasgow, Carlton A. Glasgow, Winston A. Glasgow; and members of his family in love; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren along with family and friends.
Julio was born on the beautiful island of Nevis, raised in Curacao, and is the son of Issac Glasgow and Margaret Elizabeth (Elliot) Glasgow. Julio relocated to the states in 1970 in Burlington, NJ in the pursuit of education and career advancement. Julio was a jack of all trades who explored many career paths and found his true passion as an operating engineer at Local 825. Julio eventually settled in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where he spent the remainder of his life.
Directly after arriving in the states, Julio obtained various certifications in diverse mechanical engineering and joined Local 825 in 1989. Julio formed a brotherhood with colleagues which afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and delightfully serve his union for over 40 years.
During his early years of life, Julio excelled in the sport of cricket and was known as one of the best players in Curacao. In his adult life, Julio was known for his top-notch cuisine and his ability to repair anything you set before him. Juilo took great pride in a day’s work in any position he held and rarely took a sick day.
Throughout his long life he forged many friendships and was known as the life of the party. Julio was a one-of-a-kind personality! His fun-loving spirit and his ability to morph serious situations into a more lighthearted experience was one of his most redeeming qualities.
To know Julio was to love him and he will be truly missed by all who encountered him.
