Obituary of Elder Calvin Moulton
Calvin Moulton, affectionately known as, “Calo”, was born the second of six children to Joshua and Blanche Moulton, in Retirement Brownstone St. Ann, Jamaica. He was educated and graduated in the Jamaica School District.
It was during a holy convocation that Calvin would meet his lifelong help meet, Yvonne Bellanfanty. On June 26, 1976, Calvin and Yvonne were united in holy matrimony. To this union, three children were born: Wycliffe, Aumatess, and Zaheer.
Calvin worked his entire life as a carpenter, which enabled him to lovingly provide for his family the exceptional gift of a three-story home with eight bedrooms and four bathrooms in Jamaica.
Calvin had a rich spiritual heritage as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Early in life, he was baptized in Jesus’ Name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He then dedicated his life to learning the Word of God. Calvin was a scholar when it came to teaching and preaching God‘s Word: IT WAS HIS PASSION!!!! Also, Calvin developed a love for the hymns of the Church: his favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art”.
Calvin held many positions as he endeavored to build God’s Kingdom, and he enjoyed the work of ministry. He was ordained an Elder under the late Bishop Sydney Miller of Rehoboth, Bethel Church Apostolic, Inc. He also served with the late Bishop Raymond Murray and the late Bishop Jabez Lewis. Elder Moulton was also the Assistant Pastor under Bishop Miller. Elder Moulton performed numerous baptism services, baptizing hundreds of people. He administered baby dedications and was a committed altar worker, fervently praying people through to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. One very special person to whom he ministered as she received the Holy Ghost was his own daughter, Aumatess. Elder Moulton also received ministerial credentials from the late, Bishop John Wesley Barber of the Born Again Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) of Jamaica. Bishop Barber would often travel to Jamaica for the Holy Convocation.
In February of 1997, Elder Moulton, along with his children, relocated to the Saint John Church in Camden, New Jersey, to be with his wife, who had come to the St. John Church in 1989 to pave the way for her family.
Upon his arrival, Elder Moulton received additional ministerial credentials under the leadership of the late Bishop Carlyle Tarte and, subsequently the late Pastor Arnetha Thompson, successive Pastors of the St. John Church.
Elder Moulton held the position as one of the main teachers of The Word at Saint John Church. He taught Bible Study and Sunday school on a weekly basis and eventually became the Sunday School Superintendent. Whenever there was an unanswered question pertaining to The Word of God, Elder Moulton was always the “go-to” person for the answer. Elder Moulton would always challenge people to dig deeper in The Word of God because he desired for them to have a love and an understanding for The Scriptures.
Until his earthly departure, and despite his physical illness, Elder Moulton was steadfast in his faith, continuing in prayer, and giving praise and glory to God.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Yvonne, of forty-seven (47) years; three (3) children, Wycliffe of Pennsauken, New Jersey, Aumatess (Rohan) of Pennsauken, New Jersey, and Zaheer (Rosa) of Old Bridge, New Jersey; four (4) sisters: Isolyn Grant, (Charlie) of Canada; Patricia Pottinger of Jamaica; Glastoria Moulton of Canada, and Vivilyn Moulton of Jamaica; one (1) brother, Loscell Moulton of Kingston, Jamaica; two (2) grandchildren, Avery and Aria, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
