Obituary
Obituary of Alice C. Hill
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Clay Hill departed this life on Thursday December 14, 2023 after a short hospitalization in Virtua Memorial Hospital Mt Holly, NJ.
Alice was the ninth of nine children born to Milton Carter Hill & Lucy Mae Hill in Maple Shade, NJ. She was educated in the Maple Shade & Moorestown NJ school systems.
Alice started her Christian journey as a child when she joined Second Baptist Church Moorestown, NJ. She would attend with her mother and family. She later attended Living Faith Christian Center in Pennsauken, NJ. With a strong faith in God and belief in His love, Alice would often encourage others to "Just give it to God and it will be alright." Another favorite saying was "There is always something to be thankful for".
As a teenager Alice accepted a month long job offer from the Federal Government in the Ft. Dix NJ Laundry. She stayed and retired after 34 years! She made lifelong friends there and when asked what she would do after retirement, Alice would laugh and say shop & eat, she did both with passion!
Alice was a smart, funny, witty & kind person. She loved sharing special times & laughter with her family. Alice was a sister, aunt, Godmother and friend. The role that fit Alice best was the role Legal Guardian & mother to her niece Stephanie. As a mother, she was loving, devoted and generous to a fault. She took on the role of mother at a young age and with God's guidance she became one of the best mothers in the world! In return, she was truly loved & admired.
At the age of 90, Alice started dialysis for a chronic kidney ailment. She never complained and rarely missed a treatment. She made friends at dialysis and found something good in everyone she encountered. Alice's faith in God, kept her going and now that same faith is rewarding her with a well deserved rest!
Alice leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter Stephanie Hill, two Goddaughters Angelique & Jessica and a host of nieces, nephews and countless other family and friends.
Sorrowfully submitted by the family.
