Obituary
Delores Irene Freeman was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, on November 14, 1938. She was the 12th child of the late A.D. and Jeanette Durham. Thursday, December 21, 2023, God gave his beloved soldier wings in a peaceful transition.
Delores received her education in her early years in Indian Mills, New Jersey. She completed it in Bridge Hampton, New York. Shortly after completing her education, she met and married James Freeman of New Port, New Virginia. From this union, they had five children. Ronald Edward, Patricia Lynn, Janet Marie, Victor Sinclar, Deanna Lynn.
Her relationship with Jesus Christ was undeniable. One thing about her was that she greatly supported any church she fellowshipped. Her candid spirit and unwavering love for her family were evident (Matthew 5:16). Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, who is heaven.
Sissy, Granny, Irene - she was fiery, fashionable, beautiful; with her love for beauty and doing hair, she enjoyed making others beautiful as well. Sissy had a heart of gold. It was evident through her love and care, never turning away anyone who needed her. She did it gracefully, being a hands-on mother, Hands-on grandmother, Hands-on sister, Hands-on aunt, and Hands-on friend, taking in and raising many of her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and random strangers. Granny always hosted family reunions, Christmas parties, and any opportunities for good food, fun, and fellowship.
Throughout her career, she has held various job positions. She was a custodian at the Cherry Hill and Willingboro Township Schools District. She later worked as a limousine driver in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she drove elite high rollers and celebrities. Her passion for driving led her to work for New Jersey Transit, where she retired in 2010 after a successful career.
Upon her retirement, the family affectionately gave her the name Ms. Gipsie. She lived in numerous places, from Los Vegas, Nevada, to Atlanta, Georgia, and too many places in New Jersey, to name. She loved traveling with her sister, nieces, and friends, taking road trips across the country.
What people did not know was that "Dee" Loved the casino. What some of you do know is that she loved to dance and was the life of the party at every family function, where she was going to make sure that we had from soup to nuts.
She was proceeded in death by Her husband, James Freeman, and Two Daughters, Janet Freeman, and Patricia Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Three children, Ronald (Deborah) Freeman of Aldan, Pennsylvania, Victor (Phyllis) Freeman of Williamstown, New Jersey, Deanna (David) Cohen of McDonough, Georgia, and one brother, David (Sadie) Durham of Medford, New Jersey. Eighteen Grand Children: Ronald, Tori, Tony, Mark, Lannette, Destiny, Roderick, Tynia, Tiffany, Jacquar, Tiara, Tiana, Nathanile, Jazmin, Shawmar, Alvin, Trayvon, Dominique, Daniel. Twenty-three great-grandchildren and a host of close nieces, nephews, and friends.
