Mommie’s Obituary
Beverly A. Cribbs, affectionately known as Sister Bev or Professor Cribbs, went home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2024 in Marietta, GA lovingly surrounded by her daughter and 2 of her grandchildren. Born to Bernice Wade and Alonza Linton on January 13, 1955 in Trenton, NJ, Beverly was undoubtedly a resilient and phenomenal woman.
Beverly was raised in Vineland, NJ by Julia Wilson, the woman she endearingly referred to as “Mommie”, and also in Wildwood, NJ by Frances Wilson after Julia’s passing. Despite her unique family dynamic and humble beginnings, Beverly earned an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, Douglass Campus and an MSW degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Beverly dedicated her life to advocating for the overlooked and underserved. This was personified through her many years of work and accomplishments within the foster care system and education.
Outside of the work, Beverly’s life was rich with the simple pleasures she enjoyed. Beverly truly loved the Lord and was an active member of First Nazarene Baptist Church for decades. You could find her playing the tambourine and praising the Lord on any given Sunday. Additionally, she was an avid Eagles fan that enjoyed watching football games. She loved the beach, taking long walks and spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her biological and bonus parents, Beverly’s honor is carried forward by her children Akilah Cribbs and Jabari (Samantha)Cribbs, her grandchildren Vaughn, Baylee and Jordana, her cousins Cheryle (Tim) and Tiwanda, close friends Lisa and Val and many more good friends and associates.
