Auntee Leona was my favorite of my granddaddy sisters I loved them all. Aunt Leona always treated me with a special kindness like I was her favorite niece. When she would come down to visit I'd make sure to go see her she was always so beautiful and nice. She would send me Christmas cards and keep in touch with me. She has a very sweet soul. Rest in heaven sweet auntie. Prayers sent out to you all love you dearly

I have been Leonia's neighbor since 1980. We have always been acquaintances but became especially close following my husband's death in 2015. Since that time we have called each other almost on a daily basis. I will always remember her kindness and acts of Mercy when I was at my lowest. I looked forward to our chats and sharing our accomplishes of the day.
I send my love and condolences to the Robinson family during this time of sadness. I pray she is resting in peace in the arms of our Lord. I miss her terribly.
Love,
Janice Breon

My grand nephews and I send our condolences to the Robinson family on the loss of Leonia, We did not know here long as we only recently joined St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where we shared a pew with her on Sunday Mornings. She was a bright spirit, greeted us cordially and made us feel welcome. We will miss her smile and presence. We hope that her family and friends will find comfort in memories you share of her. Life is so short ... my name is Deb, I was Leonia's first daughter-in-law, we shared the fact that we both lost our Moms at such a young age, and I got a chance to know her up close and personal, for we lived with her for almost 2 years; she was REAL .. she had no problem telling you what was on her mind ... I will miss making fruit cakes during the holidays with her, cooking was her passion and she loved for you to eat her food, and there was always plenty of it....she loved celebrating anything and always did it with a spirit of excellence ... I thank her for many prayers said for me ....her loving and selfless acts deposited in my life...in the bible there is a book Isaiah 61, that talks about "beauty for ashes" and that they may be called a tree of righteousness, well that was Leonia .............................May you rest in peace and the love you shared never be forgotten!

Grandma, you were the only grandma I had and I loved you so. You might have thought your gumbo and peach cobbler was loved more, and I have to admit it was a close second. We fussed and we loved. I was little Leonia, the grand with your freckles. You taught me grace and that cleanliness was next to Godliness. I would come to visit you with a new hairstyle and you would say, “Is that the new style now?” That translated to “ what have you done to your hair!” You were funny and clever. I remember bringing Troy (husband) for a visit and for your approval. You were delighted to know his birthday was the day after yours. Then you took him into a corner and said , “ here’s what you need to know about Gemini’s”Lol. A visit to Willingoboro won’t be the same. You know I love and loved you. Until we meet again. Xoxo

Sweet Soror Leonia, such a sweet, loving and funny beautiful woman who will be missed by all of us. To Kimmie and family, a mother is with us always, first in her lifetime, then forever in our memory. She was so loved. One thing I know, she loved her family. Continue to cherish those loving memories that will be in your hearts and minds forever. With sincere prayers, condolences and love, Mildred.

The first trip I can ever remember on an airplane was going to see Aunt Leona and her family. It was so exciting to meet all these new familiar looking faces and Aunt Leona was so special. She was like a prettier, bubblier, refined version of my grandfather. Same gestures, smile, vocal tone but more accessible as women often are.
On later visits throughout my life, she taught me sooo much about our family history. She would make Michael come pick me up from the airport when I flew into town (ha,ha), she drove down to MD (during my short residence there) to celebrate the birth of my first child and she is the ONLY person that has ever gotten me to eat pork. In full transparency, her pork chops were delicious.
She was a ball of light, energy, generosity and love.
I will miss her dearly but I am happy to share that same light in my relationships with her granddaughters. Family is forever as she will be in our hearts and memories...

To my wonderful Aunt. So many memories of this beautiful lady but my favorite memory was the first time she and her family came to Arizona to see us. My Dad, her oldest brother; I had never seen him smile with such joy on his face. I knew then how special she was. I will miss her and her love.

I first met Aunt Leonia when I was about 12 years old, she and her family came to Arizona to meet her brothers JC and Leon. She was classy and sophisticated, I loved her immediately.
As I got older, I would travel to NJ to visit her, uncle and specifically to hang out with Kim for many summers. Those summers were the beat times of my being a young adult. I wanted so badly to move to the East Coast to be like Aunt Leonia and Kim—educated, sophisticated, hard working and well-rounded.
I remember one summer at 4th of July in particular when Aunt Leonia was making gumbo. I overheard her ask her son CA to go get her a bushel of crab. He later walked in with a large bag of crab, and much to my surprise they were still alive! On the stove, Aunt Leonia was boiling a HUGE pot of water and I asked her, what’s that for, she said to boil the crab for the gumbo. She then just started putting them in the boiling water quickly, put the lid on. I’m like wait, wait, aren’t you going to kill them first, she said no, the hot water does. The crab were screaming as they were being boiled. That was my first experience with blue crab and how they are cooked for our enjoyment. By the way, Aunt Leonia’s gumbo was delicious!!!
I have nothing but wonderful memories of Aunt Leonia and how she treated me with nothing but love, affection and truly just as if I was her own child. She always went out of her way for me, my family and everyone, and she expected the same for her children and all of us. I will truly miss Aunt Leonia, her laughter, the way she said ‘Kim’ and just the love she showed and gave to me throughout my life.
I know that her brothers and sisters are happy to be with her in Heaven, especially JC, I can just see his big ole smile welcoming her in the fold. I love you Aunt Leonia! May God bless and love your family always.
Your great-niece,
Sophia
